[ May 31, 2011 to June 12, 2011. ] May 31, 2011toJune 12, 2011Tweet Charleston, South Carolina Spoleto Festival USA was founded in 1977 by Pulitzer Prize-winning Italian composer Gian Carlo Menotti, Christopher Keene and others, who sought to create an American counterpart to their annual Festival of Two Worlds in Spoleto, Italy. Looking for a city that would provide the charm of Spoleto as well as its wealth of theaters, churches and other performances spaces, they selected Charleston as the ideal location. Learning Farmville with #SocialRose

Tweet Today is my wedding anniversary.  Twenty three years ago Bill and I decided we would create a family together.  He took on the task of stepdad to three very unwilling children and welcomed his daughter into our lives a little over a year later.  You can imagine my stress that he is spending today preparing for his heart surgery next week.  Lab tests, ultrasounds, a CT and meetings with pre-op, the anesthesiologist and the surgeon.  I wanted to be with him but he thought I would be bored.  HAH!  I would have made him too nervous with my near hysterics.  I have had months to prepare myself but he…

Tweet There is a synergy between Pittsburgh and Cleveland-always has been.  Just a few hours away, they need to choose their battles.  Sometime one comes out on top, sometimes another.  Sometimes they choose not be compete.  Who are the winners?  I’m not picking sides but look toward sports.  Browns versus the Steelers?  Great rivalry but the stats speak for themselves.  Indians versus the Pirates?  Let’s choose not to compete unless we must.  Where the synergy exists?  Lets look toward biomedical.  Both cities have deep education and biomedical resources.  Both see their landscapes being reshaped by biomedicine.  Just read in Business Week that UPMC is leading Pittsburgh’s revival as the city hosts…

    New York Comes to Cleveland

Tweet It was a sunny and warm late summer day when Cleveland’s Downtown Alliance encouraged Clevelanders to take tot he streets in celebration of our vibrant neighborhoods.  The SPARX City Hop provided tons of freebies and discounts at some of the top art galleries, restaurants and bars.  What a treat to open my RSS feed of the NY Times and see the review of Cleveland in their travel section.  Brett Sokol’s “36 Hours in Cleveland”  took readers to many of the hot spots that my husband and I also toured Saturday.  The Times toured university Circle and the Warehouse district as well as the trendy Tremont district.

    Rockin’ in Cleveland

Tweet What an interesting weekend in Cleveland!  Excitement is mounting on the lake!  It’s been 12 years since the Induction Ceremony for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was in Cleveland.  Saturday night the one of Cleveland’s tributes to our rockin’ roots was held at the Q. The Moondog Coronation Ball is one of our favorite events.  Adding zing to the upcoming induction ceremony and all of the events surrounding it, Clevelanders took The Q by storm.  Little Anthony, Herman’s Hermits, Tommy James and the Shondells,Jerry Butler, and Three Dog Night kept the arena rockin!.
